A very bizarre problem has happened with Java programs on the new Ubuntu: Some buttons can not be clicked. I noticed this in Eclipse and jEdit, but I think that can occur with any Java program, like Azureus, jDownloader, among others (though I have not tested these, ok?). From what I read, the problem is because there were changes in GTK, the basic library of windows used in Gnome, and it should perhaps be corrected in a future version of Java. Published by oznek and is filed under tips , linux , nerds Finally at home with Ubuntu 9.10 and ATI Radeon with 3D working! I had heard much talk that the proprietary driver of ATI graphics cards tend to give trouble in Linux, but always use nVidia, I never really knew that the work was to seek a solution for that. I am a recent user of a Radeon HD 4650 (baseboard and cheap, I recommend for anyone who is not a super-ultra-mega-buff games!). Everything worked fine when suddenly - okay, not so suddenly, just to give a dramatic air to the scene - stopped working, everything after installing Ubuntu 9.10, Karmic Koala. The proprietary video driver from ATI is comprised of shares in the operating system kernel, x.org parties to the graphics system, and software configuration. As is quite dependent on the core system, a version change may make you stop working - maybe a problem in programming, do not know. Just go to update Ubuntu Linux , version 8.10 Intrepid Ibex. I did the update through my installed version 8.04 and was very soft (they were upgraded to 1600 - about 1.3 GB - argh! - machine developer is the f *! has a lot of junk installed!). Have not noticed much difference, but anything new, I notice! Oh, if you have older nVidia card, it seems to me that there is a problem with the drivers, from what I read there.
